John Wright

"John has worked his magic to improve the working relationships across all functions. After thorough investigation, he cuts through to the real issues, and drives through to very positive solutions which seemed virtually impossible to achieve at the outset."

- Heather Lawson, Trading Director of UK Retail PLC

Ask John about himself and he'll tell you he's more of an operational person than a theoretical one.
John learned his practical focus initially as an engineer and line manager at Rank Xerox. He led a service team that had been written off by his predecessors, and turned it around to take it to the top of the corporate league.

After that, he moved on to head of the business’ management-development function. Then, as a consultant, he used his insight to develop and implement team-building and strategic change programmes across the UK for clients including Barclays, Lyons Tetley, Canada Life, defence contractor MBDA and Nottingham Trent University.

John bases his work on practical business experience and weaves in team coaching and team theory. We tend to turn to him for clients who need pragmatic support quickly. Facilitation jobs particularly tend to benefit from John's cut-to-the-quick approach, and fast results. When he's not working, John can usually be found out on the road, getting in the miles for his long-distance cycling exploits - like crossing the Pyrenees in less than a week.

I discovered my passion for performance when I found myself in performance league tables at Xerox. Admittedly, there was a healthy element of survival in the experience but it was a total joy to realise that it was possible to analyse the drivers of performance and engineer success. However, the real bonus was the experience of getting a whole team behind a plan to win. To see the drive and energy released in team members was uplifting and put real meaning into my leadership. If, as a consultant, I can be the catalyst that helps a client team generate their own passion (guided by a plan) then I feel that I have made a genuinely worthwhile contribution.
